Find Halloween Frights And Fall Delights On Colorado Farms

From an interactive ghost town tour and haunted corn mazes to pumpkin picking and hayrides, visitors seeking  Halloween scares will find a variety of experiences this October on farms across Colorado.

Amaizing Pumpkins and More, Holyoke in northeast Colorado has several activities to get families in the Halloween spirit, including several children’s mazes, a pumpkin patch, nightly campfires, a 5-acre corn maze, a haunted maze on Saturday nights, straw bale mountain and more. General admission ranges from $6 – $10; children three and under are free.

Orchard Valley Farms & Market, Paonia. Visitors can harvest fall bounty with their choice of blackberries, veggies and chiles on this 80-acre farm. Then they can sit back and savor aromas from the chili roaster, or snack on the plunder along the scenic North Fork of the Gunnison River while sipping a glass of wine from Black Bridge Winery. Guests can also enjoy a hayride across the historic Black Bridge to pick apples and drink fresh cider from the press. In addition to a petting zoo for kids, visitors can hunt for the right pumpkin and donate what is desired for the pumpkins picked. All contributions benefit the Partners of Delta, Montrose and Ouray youth mentoring program. Orchard Valley Farms & Market and Black Bridge Winery are open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily through November 3. A hayride and entry into the petting zoo costs $5.

Covered Bridge Ranch, Montrose. Celebrate fall with the 300-acre scenic ranch’s popular pumpkin patch, hayrides, giant haystack, campfire marshmallow roast and apple cider tastings. New this year, participants can interact with additional farm animals and partake in a treasure hunt for ghosts and other iconic Halloween characters. All activities and refreshments are included in the $5 admission charge. Covered Bridge Ranch is open through October 27: Thursdays and Fridays from 3-6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Fritzler Corn MAiZE, LaSalle. One of Colorado’s largest corn maze attractions, Fritzler Corn MAiZE offers a variety of activities to keep kids and adults entertained. Participate in Alcorntraz/Zombie Slayer Paintball Adventure, take in this year’s bald eagle maze design from above on a helicopter ride, encounter the terrifying scares in Scream Acres, try the interactive ghost haunt through an abandoned ghost town, or make your way through the famed corn maze. Ticket pricing variations are available for non-scary and haunted experiences; combo tickets range from $10-$35. The Fritzler Corn MAiZE operates from 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5-10 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 12-6 p.m. on Sundays through November 3.

Miller Farms, Platteville. The Haunted Adventure kicked off its season on October 10 and runs through October 31. Guests will spend about 30 minutes wandering through this truly scary maze. Miller Farms’ Fall Harvest Festival also runs through mid-November and offers hayrides, corn mazes and a petting zoo, in addition to the 180 acres of fields to pick ripe vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions, squash and more. Admission is $10 per person, and 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Colorado flood recovery efforts. The Fall Harvest Festival is open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily; Haunted Adventure is open nightly after dusk.

Colon Orchards, Colorado Springs. Located in the heart of the Arkansas River Valley, Colon Orchards is a fourth generation farm that offers both a 5-acre maze and 10-acre maze in the fall, in addition to hayrides and a pumpkin patch for selecting the perfect pumpkin. Admission is $8 and includes a pumpkin. Hours of operation for Colon Orchards Farm is 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily through October 31. Abbey Maze is open Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. through October 27.

Diana’s Pumpkin Patch Corn Maze, Canon City. This 8-acre maze will keep patrons on their toes as they wind their way through this year’s Indiana Jones-themed design, which houses clues to help visitors locate the “Disk of Amun-Ra.” Bring flashlights and enjoy s’mores and hot cider on Friday and Saturday evenings. Diana’s Pumpkin Patch Corn Maze is open Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. through October 31.
