Q&A With Founder of Breeze Bars, Nutrition on the Go
Breeze Bars (Made in Boulder)
A few of Colorado’s own are working to develop wholesome nutrition bars for those on-the-go. Convenient for traveling or grabbing a snack on the run, locally-made nutrition bars pack a loaded punch of whole foods and hearty nutrition. Check out our Q/A session with Breeze Brown to find out how Breeze Bars take the guessing out of nutrition labels:
Carri: How did the idea of the nutrition bars come to be?
Breeze: I actually designed the bars four years ago for my little sister who had been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and a few close friends I was helping out on the sports nutrition front. This was really just a fun way for me to bring in my nutrition expertise and help my family and friends.
All of the protein in Breeze Bars comes from whole nuts, whole seeds or NON-GMO roasted soy beans. We do not add protein isolates to Breeze Bars, thus maintaining a naturally easy to digest product.
Carri: More and more consumers are scouring labels. This must be an immense advantage for you…
Breeze: From the beginning the Breeze Bar label has been very clean. All of the ingredients in the bars are recognizable. We do not add anything that you cannot just buy on the shelf by itself. I am all about what you see is what you get and this is why we have large window in our wrapper so that you can see everything you are eating. I have never been a big fan of guess what is in the package…:)
Carri: What is the biggest improvement you have seen when it comes to healthier trends?
Breeze: While there are still fads, and there will always be fads, I do see a lot more of the “healthy lifestyle” concept being pushed rather than the quick fixes. The balance between activity and an all around healthy diet is on the up and up. If everyone could recognize this we would be a much healthier and happier society.
Carri: What do you most love about Colorado?
Breeze: I love waking up and seeing the mountains and the flatirons! It really is a breath of fresh air! Even if I am having a bad day it’s a relaxing way to remind you that there is a whole world out there and the opportunities are endless.
Carri: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?
Breeze: I got my first fly rod when I was seven years old and love to fly fish! Our family tradition is that we go fly fishing every Christmas Eve, no matter how cold it might be we never break tradition!
