Stranahan's Well Built E.S.B.

Breckenridge Brewery and Stranahan’s whiskey are gearing up to release the second batch of Well Built ESB. The extra special brew is a team effort between neighbors and Colorado’s own, Stanahan’s Whiskey Distillery and Breckenridge Brewery. The breweries ESB, which is made with 100 % English malt imported from the UK, is aged for three months in Stranhan Whiskey barrels. The result is a brew with roasted flavors of oak and whiskey with hints of caramel, cherry and fruit. It’s then topped off in 750 ml cork and cage bottles and sells for around $15.99 a bottle in Colorado liquor stores.     Breckendridge Brewmaster, Todd Usry, says this could be the first commercial collaboration between a brewery and a distiller in the U.S. “We’ve achieved balance,” says Todd Usry. “The release of the Well Built is a tribute to our friendship.” The small and limited batch is released quarterly. 200 cases of beer were sold for the first release but that’s already amping up. By 2013- 1,250 cases of Well Built are expected. The general manager of Stranahan’s, Peter Macca says “We are proud to have our name associated with such a great product, and work with out neighbors here in Denver.”

Sounds like a great beer, if only it wasn’t 15000km away!

It is only sold in CO liquor stores right now. So if you ever make your way out West you will have to try it!

Thanks for the “LIKE” of my fungi, which really has nothing to do with Stranahan’s…but it sounds like a really decent whiskey. I’m in Chicago, so I’ve not heard of it. Is it Strictly a CO product?
