Rafting the Numbers with Arkansas Valley Adventures
White-water rafting is one of Colorado’s most exciting outdoor sports. Looking for a challenging trip? Consider taking on the numbers section of the Arkansas River near Buena Vista. This is one of the most difficult sections commercially rafted in Colorado. Take a trip with AVA to shoot down the gnarly class IV-V rapids with experienced and confident guides. The word tame does not exist on this trip- adventure seekers only!
The technical series of drops are so jam-packed they are numbered 1-8 instead of named. Be prepared to paddle on cue and punch your way through a series of long drops and wild rapids. The trip is guaranteed to include steep drop-offs, tight channels and white knuckles. Be on your game because the water is extremely rocky and requires pinpoint paddling.
If you get a chance to catch your breath don’t forget to take a look at the commanding views of the Rocky Mountains and the several 14,000 foot peaks surrounding you. You may even spot some Colorado wildlife!
The Numbers provides great rafting until mid-August for experienced rafters. If you choose a full day trip you will be served a hot lunch of home made chicken fajitas served up riverside. If you are looking for a quick trip AVA also offers half day trips on the numbers.
Make sure you dress appropriately and wear plenty of sunscreen. Wetsuits, splash tops and booties are included.
